Pointe Shoes

Did you know that women began to dance ballet in the 1600’s? The original ballet slippers had a heel. In the middle of the 18th century, they did away with the heel. Our modern pointe shoe only came into existence in the 20th century with a Russian ballerina, Anna Pavlova.

I shared this little history tidbit because my southern granddaughter just got her first pair of pointe shoes. I’m so proud of her.
