Checks gone mad

Wow October the 5th already! Time seems to be moving real fast. All the stores are either all set up or in the process of getting all their Christmas goodies showcased. I do love it, I’m not going to lie. I am like a little kid in a candy store going from pillow to ornament to throw blanket. I am on the computer making lists and checking them twice and sometimes 3 times. I’m going …

A Grandmother’s Halloween Treats

No tricks today.  Just the treat of some of my adorable grandchildren dressed up for Halloween. This little vampire is so charming that he may bite your neck before you are aware of what has happened. From Halloween 2015, these two vampiresses are quite happy about the meal (candy) they just shared. This little princess is sure to get a lot of candy with a smile that beguiles. Her big brother is nearby to scare …

Halloween Memory Lane

Halloween is such a fun holiday to celebrate as a kid.  Then as a parent, there is a new kind of joy watching your children experience Halloween. Here is my oldest son, and first born, out trick-or-treating for the first time.  Of course the mask was off as soon as he got his candy.  At least he  kept it on long enough for me to snap a few pictures. Things definitely change as they grow …

Haunting Place Setting for a Halloween Table

Your dinner guests, mortal or immortal, will be haunted by this beautiful Halloween place setting. I’ve layered a black rattan charger beneath a black and white scroll dinner plate. Next, I’ve placed a white salad plate on top. Finally, a pumpkin bowl used for soup finishes the look. On the top right, a smoky black goblet sits with an off-white napkin folded inside. I glued slate colored gems to the corner of the napkins as …

Boo-tiful Dining Room Halloween Decor

A black and white color scheme adds a “boo-tiful” touch for Halloween to a dining room.  It pairs well with my coffee station which is located next to the dining room. Look at this poor little ghost trapped in the vase.  Perhaps he went for a swim in the black and white jelly beans and got stuck.  Next to him is a white candle placed on top of a mercury pillar candle.  A simple black ribbon …

Coffee with Ghouls

This is the same cabinet in my kitchen that I transformed into my coffee station. I changed out the fall colored mugs with a mostly black and white theme with touches of orange for Halloween. I started with black and white plaid mugs on the bottom shelf. The mugs are sitting on top of black and white shelving paper.  I added a little pumpkin with “boo” written on it placed on top of one of …

Lil Halloween Pumpkin Craft Project

Today I have a little Halloween pumpkin craft idea to share. This is the perfect project to do with your kids or grandkids. They can customize the pumpkin to their own liking. For new moms, this is a perfect way of creating memories. I applied personalized decals to a little pumpkin along with some gems. I tied a gingham ribbon around the stem for a cute touch. And tucked the pumpkin in a nest of …

Simple Spooky Touches for Halloween Mantel

My fireplace is another area for me to display seasonal decor. I start with a classic hydrangea and wheat garland. I added some extra wheat and a raffia bow. I love to drape the garland off the side of the mantel. I’ve added some mercury pumpkins and a mercury votive for a visual effect. The large pumpkin is sitting on top of a glass and mercury pillar holder to add some height. It is filled …
