Merry Christmas

Here are some pictures of inside the sunroom. Now remember it isn’t finished, but it is too close to Christmas to start any new projects. So I’m not patiently waiting to share until after the holidays. This is my favorite corner. As you can see, it’s waiting for me to come and snuggle up with a cup of coffee and a good book. I stayed with gray and white out here. I’ve always gone after …

Amaryllis in Deep Red

I’m posting these pictures from Thanksgiving because a lot of people do turkey for Christmas also. This is our turkey deep frying. We started this tradition about 5 years ago. You haven’t tasted the best turkey until you’ve tasted a deep fried one. It is moist in the center and crispy on the outside. My youngest son, Greg, did the frying and carving.  It’s great to have family traditions that you can pass down to …

Snuggled Up Waiting for the Snow

They say we are getting 1-3 inches of snow this afternoon. I like the kind of snow that makes everything pretty and clean. Everything looks like it’s in a Norman Rockwell picture. I plan on staying in and keeping warm while watching the snow through the window. This chair is very ready for that with a nice white faux fur to snuggle up with. My husband went to work so the fur will have to …

Ornament Filled Glass Hurricane

This large glass hurricane sits in my bedroom. Inside, a wooden pillar holds a large candle surrounded by some red ornaments. Off to the side, you can see a wall sconce holding a timer candle. I attached an angel ornament that was given to me by my oldest daughter. Then I added a brown bow that is made up of three different types of ribbon. I feel like it catches your eye and keeps it. …

Mercury Vignette

This mercury Christmas tree is surrounded by faux snow. I placed a red timer candle inside to achieve a glowing effect. A set of string lights would also work. I added some real candles, a bowl of silver bulbs, and a mixture of large green balls and small red balls. Next, I added some silver polar bears and a frosty snowman. It’s funny that years ago I was addicted to gold, and I didn’t use …

Red Steals the Show

I always decorate the top of my fridge for Christmas. I chose a red and white checkered table runner as the base. Then I added a red mercury vase and filled it with silver balls. Next I added some evergreens and a a matching candle holder. I placed a plaid candle on top. Finally I stood a wooden reindeer next to everything to finish the look. I love the pops of reds here and there …

Fur-Trimmed Santa

Santa waits by the door to greet guests as they enter. He is decked out in a blue robe that is trimmed with gray fur. His staff helps him walk through the snow. He carries a large sack on his back filled with goodies for all the good children. The clock is ticking with 16 more days to go. I am crossing off the days on my calendar.

Lantern All Ready for the Holidays

This lantern that has been decked out for the holidays is simple and yet just enough to say Happy Holidays. The decor starts with adding a timer candle. Next, I placed some faux snow, greens, and berries inside. Then a log and some pine cones sit next to the lantern. Finally a bow tops everything off with some pine cone and a crystal pick. As with most of the things I do, everything is done …

Flocked Christmas Tree

This white flocked tree in front of my bedroom window shines beautifully. Small red ornaments adorn the branches with a white bow sitting on top. Surrounding the base, a red shawl acts as a tree skirt. I add the chocolate brown drapes to the window in the winter. It makes the room feel cozy and keeps it warmer. This was a trick I learned from my mother; we always brought out the heavy drapes in …
