Merry Christmas

Here are some pictures of inside the sunroom. Now remember it isn’t finished, but it is too close to Christmas to start any new projects. So I’m not patiently waiting to share until after the holidays. This is my favorite corner. As you can see, it’s waiting for me to come and snuggle up with a cup of coffee and a good book. I stayed with gray and white out here. I’ve always gone after …

Amaryllis in Deep Red

I’m posting these pictures from Thanksgiving because a lot of people do turkey for Christmas also. This is our turkey deep frying. We started this tradition about 5 years ago. You haven’t tasted the best turkey until you’ve tasted a deep fried one. It is moist in the center and crispy on the outside. My youngest son, Greg, did the frying and carving.  It’s great to have family traditions that you can pass down to …

Pear Sangria

My oldest son was in charge of finding new drinks for our family to try out this Christmas. The first drink he chose was this pear sangria from How Sweet Eats. It was definitely a crowd-pleaser. It went down real smooth and tasted very much like pear nectar. We froze the cranberries before adding them so they’d help keep the drinks chilled. And we sliced some additional pears and cranberries to garnish each glass. Ingredients: …

Fur-Trimmed Santa

Santa waits by the door to greet guests as they enter. He is decked out in a blue robe that is trimmed with gray fur. His staff helps him walk through the snow. He carries a large sack on his back filled with goodies for all the good children. The clock is ticking with 16 more days to go. I am crossing off the days on my calendar.

Lantern All Ready for the Holidays

This lantern that has been decked out for the holidays is simple and yet just enough to say Happy Holidays. The decor starts with adding a timer candle. Next, I placed some faux snow, greens, and berries inside. Then a log and some pine cones sit next to the lantern. Finally a bow tops everything off with some pine cone and a crystal pick. As with most of the things I do, everything is done …

Flocked Christmas Tree

This white flocked tree in front of my bedroom window shines beautifully. Small red ornaments adorn the branches with a white bow sitting on top. Surrounding the base, a red shawl acts as a tree skirt. I add the chocolate brown drapes to the window in the winter. It makes the room feel cozy and keeps it warmer. This was a trick I learned from my mother; we always brought out the heavy drapes in …

Red Velvet Stocking

This red velvet stocking is just one among many that I own. I love decorating with them. First, I stuff them with tissue paper so they have a full look. Next, I tuck a couple of packages with bows inside. Then I add some greens and red berries peeking out of the top. Finally I hang it from a the post of my bed. My bedroom is done mostly in brown velvet for the winter …

Santa is Watching

Not counting today, there are 27 days until old Saint Nick comes sliding down the chimney. The thought still excites me. This is the time of year when all children are on their best behavior because he is watching you now. So you better watch out. Now there is the infamous little elf. He watches, and sometimes he gets into a little trouble along the way. Yet he still manages to report back to Santa. …
