Amaryllis in Deep Red

I’m posting these pictures from Thanksgiving because a lot of people do turkey for Christmas also. This is our turkey deep frying. We started this tradition about 5 years ago. You haven’t tasted the best turkey until you’ve tasted a deep fried one. It is moist in the center and crispy on the outside. My youngest son, Greg, did the frying and carving.  It’s great to have family traditions that you can pass down to …

Plaid Sets the Stage for Fall

This Pottery Barn fig and gray plaid throw sets the stage for my Tuscan vase that takes the spotlight. The loropetulum branches add needed height and some additional color. A fig colored candle sits atop a matching pillar holder surrounded by natural toned pebbles. I followed my own advice and incorporated some natural elements into the scene by the way of acorns, golden hued oak leaves, and pine cones. A large moss ball draws your …

A Basketful of Autumn Centerpiece

A two-tiered wire basket makes for the perfect dining room centerpiece year round.  Just change out the various elements to match the current season. My dining room table is all set for fall. In the bottom tier, I added some faux mums are nestled around a few real bone-white baby boo pumpkins. As a nod to Halloween, I’ve scattered a few sparking spiders across the top. Moss fills the top tier along with some additional …

Haunting Place Setting for a Halloween Table

Your dinner guests, mortal or immortal, will be haunted by this beautiful Halloween place setting. I’ve layered a black rattan charger beneath a black and white scroll dinner plate. Next, I’ve placed a white salad plate on top. Finally, a pumpkin bowl used for soup finishes the look. On the top right, a smoky black goblet sits with an off-white napkin folded inside. I glued slate colored gems to the corner of the napkins as …

Boo-tiful Dining Room Halloween Decor

A black and white color scheme adds a “boo-tiful” touch for Halloween to a dining room.  It pairs well with my coffee station which is located next to the dining room. Look at this poor little ghost trapped in the vase.  Perhaps he went for a swim in the black and white jelly beans and got stuck.  Next to him is a white candle placed on top of a mercury pillar candle.  A simple black ribbon …

Fall Glass Canisters

The  These are located in my powder room. Yes, every room has a touch of fall in it. It is like walking through the woods with Mother Nature and all her grace and glory. The shorter of the glass canisters is filled with dried pumpinos and some acorns. And it’s tied off with a raffia bow. The large one has cotton pods and some grasses for added height. The glass pillar holder has a timer …

Simple Spooky Touches for Halloween Mantel

My fireplace is another area for me to display seasonal decor. I start with a classic hydrangea and wheat garland. I added some extra wheat and a raffia bow. I love to drape the garland off the side of the mantel. I’ve added some mercury pumpkins and a mercury votive for a visual effect. The large pumpkin is sitting on top of a glass and mercury pillar holder to add some height. It is filled …

Fall Memories

The reason I’m sharing this setting is to set the stage for a story I want to share about my oldest grandson, Tommy, and these squirrels. Many years ago when Tommy was little, I would find these squirrels lined up like little soldiers after he spent the day visiting. At first I thought it was my hubby playing a prank. And then it happened again the following year after Tommy’s visit. Tommy was diagnosed with …

Welcome to my Kitchen (2017 Fall Decor)

A new kitchen isn’t in the budget at this time so I am working with what I have already. I wanted shelves in the corner with a coffee station so I improvised by taking the cabinet door off to display my fall-toned mugs. I left the hinges on for interest. I just love different types of mugs. I added a few pumpkins and some berries for a special touch. On the counter I added some …

Fall 2017 Entrance Decor

I have a small entrance so the mirror gives it the illusion of extra depth.  The throw rug helps with dirty shoes and picks up the color of my carpet.  I have a lantern with a timer candle with a fall leaf spray and some acorns and small white pumpkins. Here’s a little before shot of what the lantern looked like before I added the fall touches. With Halloween approaching, I’ve added a spooky spider …
