As I mentioned yesterday, I have a huge collection of turkeys that I like to use in my fall decor. I tweaked my living room fireplace mantel only slightly like I did for Halloween. It keeps things simple by changing out a few details to match the holiday or season.
I switched the large mercury pumpkin for a large mercury gourd. For some reason, I associate gourds with Thanksgiving. Next, I replaced the small pumpkin with an ivory-colored candle. It picks up the ivory in the hydrangea.
Finally, turkeys have taken over for the spiders and ghosts to fit in with the upcoming holiday. It does look quite elegant.
When the candles are lit and the fireplace is aglow, it puts you in the mood to settle in with a good book or a feel-good Hallmark movie.
